History

RBIMT (Removing Bias in Medical Training) was started by Dr. Paul Kent, Dr. Jeremy Chapman, and Antonio Logan in 2015. Their original study, “Who Lives in UWorld?” was presented at the CGEA conference (see poster under Conferences). In 2017, Asantewaa Ture joined the research team. Drs. Kent and Chapman’s passion for health equity coupled perfectly with Dr. Ture’s interest in social science/health disparity research. We are a collaborative team that is focused on the best ways to educate future physicians to ensure that all patients are given high quality care.

Asantewaa Ture, MD

Asantewaa began working on the RBIMT project in 2017 when she joined the team as the research project manager. Based on her ability to organize an 8 person research team of undergraduate students, research assistants, and physicians along with her ability to receive two grants for the RBIMT project, she became Co-PI and executive director of Project RBIMT. She has presented research findings at the Student National Medical Association’s AMEC Conference and the American Medical Association’s ChangeMedEd conference. She is completing her Internal Medicine residency and plans to continue conducting research regarding health disparities, health equity, and medical education.

Jeremy Chapman-Gould, MD

Jeremy began the RBIMT project along with Dr. Paul Kent and Antonio Logan in 2015. He presented his original study, “Who Lives in UWorld?” at the CGEA conference (see poster under Conferences). In addition to being Co-PI, he is also the creative force behind our DrawShop video. He completed his psychiatry residency at Medical College of Wisconsin. He is currently a Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellow at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.

Paul Kent, MD, FAAP

Dr. Paul Kent started the RBIMT project with Jeremy Chapman, MD and Antonio Logan in 2015 when he noticed that there were discrepancies in the description of patients portrayed in preparation question banks for USMLE. Dr. Kent has a long-standing history of studying the social determinants of health and contributing to the understanding of health equity. Along with being the Medial Director of the Pediatric Fibrolamellar Carcinoma Program and Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Rush University Medical Center, he is also the Advocacy Role Leader for Rush University Medical College.
